Zamioculcas Zamiifolia
Common Names: Zanzibar gem, ZZ plant, Zuzu plant, aroid palm, eternity plant, emerald palm or welcome plant
Family: Araceae
Plant Features: ZZ plants are tropical perennial plants native to eastern Africa, from southern Kenya to northeastern South Africa. They have shiny foliage that are normally evergreen.
Flowers: The flowers are produced in a small bright yellow to brown or bronze spadix 5–7 centimetres (2.0–2.8 in) long, partly hidden among the leaf bases.
Care: Low maintenance. These ornamental plants can be planted in a small pot when young but may be needed to be transferred in a bigger one as ZZ plants can grow as tall as 60 cm. and sprouts out young ones. ZZ plants have high water content. Though they can tolerate heat, they should be placed under bright indirect sunlight. They can be best displayed indoors so daily watering is not necessary. Keep the soil moist, though, when they are placed outdoors.
Propagation: Easy to grow. New plants sprout from old ones. These can then be uprooted and planted into new pots.
