Cabin-8

At some point in our lifetime, we need to give back what is good to mother nature. Living without negative impact in the environment is the least we can do.

So goes the creation of Cabin-8.

Purpose:

Cabin-8 is a tiny structure conceptualize initially to provide temporary room for different functionalities. Its design aims to provide sustainable shelter with the least possible negative impact on the environment. The initial construction scheme uses used and repurposed materials. Its aesthetic promotes beauty in simplicity, relaxing to the eyes and cozy to stay in.

Design Concept:

Cabin-8, just like of a bahay-kubo concept, is a modular cabin. It is adaptive to changes that it can easily be relocated and expanded as the need arises. One cabin can be interconnected with another for bigger number of occupants. Each cabin has an open plan with movable partitions and adjustable bunk beds. Movable kitchenette is provided outside the cabin. Toilet and bath are attached to the structure. Because of modern building technology, Cabin-8 can be constructed in a shorter time frame and at a reduced cost. Most of the materials used in the initial construction were recycled and repurposed materials.

Physical Features:

Aiming to create a sustainable structure,  this tiny cabin maximizes the use of natural resources and reusable materials. It is aided with combination of modern and innovative utilities to efficiently harness and manage the natural energy, such as sunlight and air circulation, thus, minimizing the dependence on artificial energy resources.

Arch Io Caballes Vengco and Engr. Gerard Trinidad Vengco the designers of Cabin-8 intended to create this cabin as temporary shelter, however, its stability and sustainability will prove that it can also function as a long term dwelling.
