Hoya Cumingiana

Hoya is a genus of 200–300 species of tropical plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. Most are native to several countries of Asia such as China, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia. There is a great diversity of species in the Philippines, and species in PolynesiaNew Guinea, and Australia.

Common Names:  waxplant, waxvine, waxflower or simply hoya.

Family: Asclepiadaceae

Plant Features: Hoyas are perennial and the leaves are always green. Hoya Cumingiana has smaller almost succulent leaves sprouting closely in alternate direction on a stem that grows very long but not twining.

Flowers: Flowers are all shaped like five pointed stars which bloom in less than a year.

Care: Hoya Cumingiana is a great house plant. But it can also be placed outside. It prefers bright but indirect light. Avoiding over-watering hoyas. They just need to have moist to damp soil..

Propagation: Hoyas are easy to propagate, and are commonly sold as cuttings, either rooted or uprooted, or as a potted plant.
